Healthy Feet for You-Rheumatology&Dermatology Associates

Maybe you’ve been wanting to get yourself into better health for a while, but you don’t know where to start. A great place to start is actually with your feet! We at Rheumatology and Dermatology Associates PC are a three-physician practice at 8143 Walnut Grove Road, in Cordova, TN, dedicated to helping people have healthy skin and healthy joints in order to maintain an active lifestyle, and that starts with ensuring health for your feet, and your loved ones’ feet.

The dermatology end of the company is chaired by yours truly – George Woodbury Jr. M.D. Dermatologists are specialists in the medical and surgical care of the skin, the hair, and the fingernails and toenails. Important skin conditions that affect active people’s feet include onychomycosis – or nail fungal infections - and plantar and periungual verrucae – or warts of the bottoms of the feet or around the nail – and eczema – also called atopic dermatitis

The person in the photo below has what are called plantar warts. These can be painful and they can inhibit people from walking, but they're very manageable with liquid nitrogen or with surgical removal:

Newer prescription therapies are now available for fungal infections, warts, and eczema, including a prescription immune-modifying cream called imiquimod, newer oral anti-fungal tablets, and a steroid-free anti-eczema cream called Eucrisa®. The person in the photo below has hand and foot eczema, on treatment with topical steroid creams:

If it’s been awhile since you’ve seen a Dermatologist, or if you simply need a skin tune-up, consider setting up an appointment. My own Dermatology practice is in Cordova, Tennessee, at Rheumatology and Dermatology Associates, 8143 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova, TN. I evaluate and treat both children and adults. Or you can find a Dermatologist by going to the American Academy of Dermatology web site, AAD.org, and then plugging your zip code into the “Find a Dermatologist” tab.

In 2016, after 25 years of practicing Dermatology, I became president of Big River Silk Skincare Inc., to make available organic and natural skincare products – including an anti-wrinkle skin-smoothing moisturizer that’s helpful for people’s feet and hands - GlycoShea Hand&Body Cream. We also manufacture and distribute GlycoShea Facial&Neck Cream. Check us out at www.Bigriversilkskincare.com.

Rheumatology is the study of conditions of the connective tissues of the body – focusing particularly upon the joints – but also covering the tendons and ligaments. It’s essential for such tissues to remain healthy for people to be able to exercise freely – which also benefits the heart, the lungs, and even one’s sleep pattern.

Dr. Cathy Chapman is a Board-Certified Adult Rheumatologist in our practice who is dedicated to keeping people able to function in their lives to the fullest of their capacity.

Dr. Linda Myers is a Board-certified Pediatric Rheumatologist, evaluating children.

The Rheumatologists at Rheumatology and Dermatology Associates use testing to help to correctly identify underlieing connective tissue conditions. They employ systemic therapies to help their patients with rheumatoid arthritis and connective tissue diseases like lupus and psoriatic arthritis. They offer joint ultrasound, as well as in-office X-rays and labwork. There are actually over 300 separate diseases in Rheumatology, so these lab tests greatly help our doctors to diagnose joint conditions and disorders and also to measure a patient’s progress with treatment.

So welcome to Rheumatology and Dermatology PC, as we enter our 28th year in Memphis, Tennessee. We look forward to working with you or your family members. www.Rheumderm.com
