A new movie on Youtube: Understanding the Melanoma Crisis: Scarlet's Story
On September 27th, 2018, Rheumatology and Dermatology Associates PC and Big River Silk Skincare Inc. released a 7 minutes video on Youtube: Understanding the Melanoma Crisis: Scarlet's Story. The video tells the story of Scarlet Akins, who at age 26 was diagnosed while pregnant with melanoma of the skin which had metastasized to her liver, lung, and brain. Scarlet had to decide whether to continue the pregnancy, or to take chemotherapy. She decided to have the baby.

This moving story should be seen by all people who spend time in the sun, or in ultraviolet radiation. It helps to explain how melanoma can be caught in the early, treatable stage, and how it can be both prevented and managed after it develops. Check it out!
